QUETTA: Four perons have been injured during an explosion in Sariab Road area of Quetta.

Police say unknown militants hurled a bomb inside the house of an agriculture department employee in Sariab Road. The blast left four persons including two women injured.

The injured have been rushed to civil hospital Quetta for medical treatment. However police and other law enforcers reached the spot and started investigation into the incident. – DawnNews

LAHORE: Twin suicide attacks seconds apart targeted the Pakistani military Friday, killing 39 people in the second attack to hit security forces in the country’s cultural capital this week.

The bombers walked up to Pakistani army vehicles in the densely populated R A Bazaar area of Lahore, blowing themselves up as people sat down to eat before the Friday prayers were to begin, a senior official said.

The bombers targeted the cantonment of Lahore, an area home to army officials and military installations, as well as hospitals and schools run by the military. The area includes civilian homes, shops and restaurants.

PESHAWAR: A suicide bomber who stumbled and blew up his vest of explosives prematurely on the outskirts of Pakistan’s city of Peshawar killed three civilians on Thursday, police said.

“Three people were killed and nine wounded. All are civilians. The dead include a small child and two men,” police official Fazal Maula told AFP.

The bomber intended to target a convoy of paramilitary Frontier Corps about 10 kilometers (six miles) outside central Peshawar, police said.

“The suicide bomber wanted to hit an FC convoy. It was a small bazaar outside Peshawar. He was wearing a suicide jacket, he fell down and it exploded prematurely. He could not reach the target,” said Maula.

“Four people were killed, including a suicide bomber. We are investigating,” confirmed police official Tauseef Haider. – AFP/Dawn

KARACHI: In yet another incident of target killing, also sectarian in nature, the son of the Ahl-e-Sunnat Chief, Maulana Ghafoor has been shot dead in Nazimabad, Karachi on Thursday, police officials said.

Maulana Ghafoor himself is also said to be in critical condition.

Maulana Ghafoor was on his way to the court in the morning when two pillion riders approached his car and opened indiscriminate fire on him, reports DawnNews.

Maulana was near the A.O. Clinic in Nazimabad when his car came under attack.

Maulana Ghafoor’s son was killed in the incident, while Maulana himself is in critical condition at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Maulana Ghafoor has been affiliated with the banned sectarian organization Sipah-e-Sahaba.

PESHAWAR: Militants armed with guns and grenades stormed offices of a US-based Christian charity in Pakistan Wednesday, killing up to five people and sparking clashes with police, officials said.

The gunmen attacked offices of World Vision near Oghi town, in the district of Mansehra in the troubled North West Frontier Province, where Taliban and Al-Qaeda-linked militants have carried out multiple attacks.

Police said five people were killed, including two women, but a spokesman for World Vision confirmed that four of its Pakistani staff died.

World Vision administration officer Mohammad Sajid told AFP that he was in the building when “more than 15 armed men” arrived in pick-up vehicles and stormed inside the offices.

“They gathered all of us in one room. The gunmen, some of whom had their faces covered, also snatched our mobile phones.
