09/10/07: Things that I would do in space!

To all Malaysians ,

I am truly honored and grateful to all the wishes that I have been getting from all walks of life . The messages keep on pouring in and at this moment , it truly helps me emotionally to prepare myself mentally for my journey to space. Believe me , I read every word of it and it really touches me to do my very best for the nation. I promise to make Malaysia proud. That’s a promise I plan to keep !

CONFESSIONS OF AN “EX” PEAK OIL BELIEVER

The good news is that panic scenarios about the world running out of oil anytime soon are wrong. The bad news is that the price of oil is going to continue to rise. Peak Oil is not our problem. Politics is. Big Oil wants to sustain high oil prices. Dick Cheney and friends are all too willing to assist.

On a personal note, I’ve researched questions of petroleum, since the first oil shocks of the 1970’s. I was intrigued in 2003 with something called Peak Oil theory. It seemed to explain the otherwise inexplicable decision by Washington to risk all in a military move on Iraq.

Peak Oil advocates, led by former BP geologist Colin Campbell, and Texas banker Matt Simmons, argued that the world faced a new crisis, an end to cheap oil, or Absolute Peak Oil, perhaps by 2012, perhaps by 2007. Oil was supposedly on its last drops. They pointed to our soaring gasoline and oil prices, to the declines in output of North Sea and Alaska and other fields as proof they were right.

Yuran ganti kad pengenalan hilang naik RM70-RM230

PUTRAJAYA 26 Sept. – Kadar bayaran bagi menggantikan kad pengenalan hilang akan naik antara RM70 hingga RM230 mulai 1 Oktober ini, kata Ketua Pengarah Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN), Datuk Mohd Abdul Halim Muhammad.

Beliau berkata, kadar bagi kehilangan kali pertama naik dari RM30 kepada RM100, kali kedua dari RM50 kepada RM200 serta kali ketiga dan seterusnya dari RM70 kepada RM300.

“Kerajaan telah memutuskan untuk menaikkan bayaran yuran bagi gantian kehilangan kad pengenalan yang melibatkan pindaan kepada Jadual Keenam, Peraturan 19 (1), Peraturan-Peraturan Pendaftaran Negara 1990 kepada semua warga negara dan bukan warga negara Malaysia,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan hari ini.
