BJSS crowned champs for fifth straight year

BUKIT Jalil Sports School (BJSS) were yesterday crowned the Junior Hockey League Division One champions for the fifth consecutive year when they hammered Anderson School 5-0 at the Tun Razak Stadium.

BJSS lifted the title in style by collecting maximum 24 points from eight wins, with Petaling Jaya Municipal Council (PJMC) second and Tenaga Nasional third.

The League has ended, yet the Malaysian Hockey Federation (MHF) officials are still in the dark pertaining to the breakdown of prize money.

Efforts to contact MHF competitions committee chairman Manjit Majid Abdullah and MHF secretary Sgt Hashim Yusoff on the matter proved futile.

PJMC still have one rain-interrupted match against Bukit Jalil Sports School Juniors to complete on Tuesday, but it is academic since the result will not change the fortunes of both PJMC or the Juniors.
The seeded quarter-finalists for the Milo Cup from Division One are BJSS, PJMC, Tenaga and Bandar Penawar Sports School.

The other two qualifiers from Division one, Tunku Besar Secondary School and Anderson as well as Division Two finalists Selangor and Terengganu, will draw lots on Tuesday to determine their opponents.

Yesterday, Pool B runners-up Terengganu beat Perlis 3-2, while Pool B champions Selangor beat Bandar Penawar Sports School Juniors 3-0 to advance to the quarter-finals.

RESULTS: Division One — Bandar Penawar Sports School 3 Bukit Jalil Sports School Juniors 1, Bukit Jalil Sports School 5 Anderson 0.

Division two semi-finals (Winners qualify for Milo Cup): Perlis 2 Terengganu 3; Selangor 3 Bandar Penawar Sports School Juniors 0.

Tuesday: Petaling Jaya Municipal Council v Bukit Jalil Sports School Juniors (National Stadium Pitch II, 5pm).

Division Two Final: Selangor v Terengganu (National Stadium Pitch I, 5pm); Third-Fourth: Perlis v Bandar Penawar Sports School Juniors (National Stadium Pitch I, 3.30pm)
