ns camp chief gets the boot?

why on earth did we blamed the whistle blower instead of throughlly investigate the issue beforehand? i didn’t understand, and neither do others. if the camp is bad, so it be. let’s work on it and improve the camp. sacking the whistle blower won’t solve the prime issue, instead will create several others. aiyaaaaa. why la ini macam?

NS camp chief gets the boot

PETALING JAYA: Camp commandant Zulkarnain Abdullah has been sacked with immediate effect after he criticised the management of the Kisana Beach Resort National Service (NS) camp in Kelantan.

He received his dismissal letter from the NS Department on Thursday evening.

No reason was given, he claimed, adding that he had packed up and left the camp.

“I just couldn’t bear to face the trainees,” said Zulkarnain, who has also been barred from attending the NS closing ceremony, when the participants will mark the end of the first NS programme this year.

Zulkarnain had criticised the management for providing defective equipment and not looking into the welfare of the trainees.

Among others, he complained that the management, Rimbun Kisana Development Sdn Bhd, had failed to get a certificate of fitness for the training equipment.

PASIR PUTIH: Camp hell. This is what the first batch of National Service trainees at the Kisana Beach Resort are calling the camp. Ironically, the resort claims to have three-star status.

The trainees’ litany of complaints run from boring exercises, run-down dormitories and grubby food to camp managers who just do not care.

Even camp commandant Major Zulkarnain Abdullah has his own list of complaints against the management company, Rimbun Kisana Development Sdn Bhd.

He criticised the management for providing defective equipment and not looking into the welfare of the trainees.

Topping the list of complaints was that the management failed to acquire the certificate of fitness for the training equipment which was required under the NS module.

As a result, trainees were unable to carry out several exercises in the module such as the flying fox high-wire exercises.

More than half the exercises in the physical training module had to be scrapped, with trainees doing marching drills instead.

complaints about the ns again?

National Service: A parent’s concerns

I am a parent of five children – two boys and three
girls. One was drafted in the introduction phase of
the National Service programme and a second child
‘escaped’ being taken away from me.

The National Service programme is an idea which I am
in total agreement with. But its implementation calls
to mind too many questions of import. Questions which
has a detrimental affect on the very lives of our
children. I cried silently for those parents who had
lost the lives of their children due to the National
Service.

Yes, accidents occur and yes, honest mistakes happen
and yes, Allah has allotted a certain period of our
lives on this earth. I am willing to accept all these
if my children’s time has come. But I will not accept
the weak and questionable reasons thus far given by
those who are in charge of this whole exercise.

At the very top of the list is the curriculum and
pedagogy. The objectives are noble for which I am in
full agreement with. The objectives, it seems, is
about racial integration which this government, whom I
as an academic and a concerned Malaysian feel, has
failed to deliver in the primary, secondary and
university school systems.
