The tournament to be held from 14th until 16th Dec 2007 will see participants competing for “His Royal Highness Sultan Azlan Shah Trophy”, “His Excellency Governor of Penang Trophy”. All winners will also receive cash awards.
Special awards like “Most Promising Player”, Best Goalkeeper, Player of the Match and Milo Fair-play Trophies with cash are also for grabs.
Every year over 350 local and foreign teams from clubs, institutions of higher learning, schools, colleges and government departments will compete in the three days tournament. Regular foreign teams will be from Thailand, Singapore, Sri Lanka, India, England, and Brunei Darussalam.
The year 2006 saw 374 teams from Malaysia and foreign countries competing in the tournament. While involved in the three days of intense competition the teams also find time to enjoy the beauty and hospitality of the island of Penang, popularly known as the ‘Pearl of The Orient’.
The tournament is divided into 9 categories: –
- The Classic Mens Open
- The Classic Womens Open
- Mens Junior Under-18
- Womens Junior Under-18
- Boys Under-15
- Girls Under-15
- Boys Under-12
- Girls Under-12
- Institutions of Higher Learning – Men and women
The games will be played on a 6 a-side for men and 7 a-sides for women competition with a duration of 13 minutes per game.
The preliminary rounds shall start on a league basic. Teams shall be divided into groups with the top teams in each group proceeding to the second round which shall be played on a knock out basic.
